Happy Mother's Day!

A sweet place setting
Homemade biscuits and jelly with eggs for breakfast
and even a chalkboard message!

Homemade card
sweet dropoff from sweet Elizabeth (and Mary Rose)
We drove up to Smithgall Woods State Park for a picnic and hike
 Lucy has NO BOUNDARIES
Nola was a master social-distancer before it was even a thing!
We took the long hike to the Martin Mine Trail to go see the abandoned gold mine.
And when we got almost there... the bridge was out! But it was a pretty waterfall!
We crossed a beautiful covered bridge out and back
Lucy did NOT like the seating arrangements!
On the way home
And about 10 PM GUESS WHO SHOWED UP FROM OKLAHOMA???
All five of us together was the best mother's day gift!

Watson Mill Bridge State Park

We needed to get out of the house today, so we decided to take the dogs to Watson Mill Bridge State Park. This is the longest (229 feet) covered bridge in Georgia.
A LOT of other people had the same idea (!) but luckily, once we got away from the area near the parking lot it wasn't crowded.
Lucy doesn't like to get her feet wet in the grass in the morning, so we really weren't sure if she was a water dog or not.
Question answered!
We enjoyed our day out in the beautiful weather.
We should've looked at the trail map before we left, because even though I was mostly sure it made a loop, we really weren't sure how long it was.
 a "five" sighting!
Three very tired puppy dogs on the way home!

Official Last Day of Summer

We went paddle boarding for the first time today.
 And we loved it!
It took a little while to get the hang of balancing
but by the end we were doing great!
This definitely won't be the last time we go.

Tallulah Gorge

We headed to Tallulah Gorge early this morning in hopes of getting one of the gorge floor passes so that we could swim and slide on the rocks.
Unfortunately, it was still too close to the holiday weekend and they were all gone. :(
But we still walked across the swinging bridge and then Carolyn, Christian, and I continued all the way down the steps to the riverbed, but stopped at the gate.
Christian wanted to keep going-rebel!
It was really hot and I wish we could've gotten in the water, HA.
Going down wasn't bad, but the 1200 steps back up were murder!

Amicalola Falls

We started our morning at the new Mercier's downtown for breakfast.
 It was delicious!
We stopped at Amicalola Falls on the way home to hike.
 The dogs loved it!

Until we got to the open stairs and Nola balked.
So we only went halfway up-but it was hot and I was okay with turning back around!

Stone Mountain

We have lived in Atlanta for almost nine years, but have never hiked to the top of Stone Mountain.
I'm not sure why we decided that the HOTTEST day of the year would be a good day to mark it off our list!
But we made it!
Fun with the pano setting on my phone :)
Needless to say, the view was worth the hike.
But going down was way more fun!
Christian took us on the scenic route down...
We even stopped at the museum and got certificates to prove we made it up and back.

I mom, therefore I blog.
