"Cool" Chalkboard Art

Getting Carolyn ready for dorm living, we bought her a mini fridge. And because girls are so much more fun to decorate with, we decided to chalk paint it!

This is a great quote to start off her college career:
(even if it is a bit uncentered...)

A Handmade Christmas

I love making handmade gifts for Christmas!
This may be my favorite one of the year:
A Harvey the Hawk ornament for Blake (who is the MCHS mascot)
I love the way these house ornaments for friends turned out!
Paired with these snap glasses cases.
and I love the Christmas PJ shirts this year!
A special request from Amy while I was at her house
And quite possibly my favorite drawing of Carolyn's ever... a gift for Blake who is going to Georgia Tech and a huge car nut!
Handmade gifts are the best, don't you think?

A Day in Philly

We took the train into Philly on Monday
destination: Reading Terminal Market
(cheesesteaks, cheese curds, milkshakes, cookies, cinnamon pretzel, and cookie cutters!)
I FINALLY got a photo in front of the LOVE sculpture (although I do have this one from OU!)
And the French version!
They are barely tolerating me at this point...
We headed to city hall to take a trip to the observation deck at the top, but tickets were sold out for the day.
It was really hot, so we decided to stop at the Rodin Museum.
The Thinker
Dante's Gates of Hell
and a very cool chess set

that turned into a full, cut-throat game.
 She wore a raspberry beret
Final destination was the Rocky steps, but it was just too hot.
We opted to go back to Reading Market and get snacks before heading home on the train.

Mill Creek Art Show

Today was the art show at school. My two artists both had pieces displayed.
Carolyn's asymmetrical pot

and Coleman's charcoal sketch of Iwo Jima was displayed
(although I couldn't get him to attend with me!)

County Reflections Ceremony

Carolyn's Liberty Lights the Way won first place at our school and advanced on to the county level.
Although she didn't win at county, I still think hers was the best! ;)
These girls always have such a good time together!
Way to go, girls!

Art Club Portfolio

Carolyn has applied for the (5th graders only) art club.  The application required a portfolio of:
a self-portrait
 a still life
 and a landscape.
I think she did a WONDERFUL job and I especially love her self-portrait!

**update: She made it!**
I mom, therefore I blog.
