Road Trip!

For our last "hurrah!" before school starts (and our last take off Tuesday!) we went on a road trip to Southwest Georgia with our neighbors Kim, Kristen, and Kelly. We went to Westville, a living history village of the 1850's.

IT.WAS.HOT.
The heat index was 115 degrees both days we were gone...and of course almost everything we planned to do was outside! On the brighter side, we pretty much had everywhere all to ourselves...who else would be out in that heat? We watched a blacksmith making knives, a washer woman and a quilter, and a potter throw a jug. After some freshly made gingerbread, we moved on to our next stop, Georgia's Little Grand Canyon.

Then we went to Calloway Gardens to spend the night and refresh in the pool!
(This MAY have been the highlight of the day for some in our party...and I'm not just talking about the kids, Kim!) Today, we got up and toured the gardens

including the Butterfly House

and then went in to Warm Springs to Franklin Roosevelt's Little White House.

Very interesting! We had a wonderful time and realized that life without air conditioning would be a very bad thing, indeed.
I mom, therefore I blog.
