How old do you have to be to be HISTORICAL?

Carolyn's American Girl catalog came in the mail yesterday. (She of course, thinks it is a wonderful book filled with beautiful things that she must have and wants to "read" it from cover to cover.) So we are sitting together on the couch looking at it and open to the page that announces their new "historical character" Julie.

From 1974. Hello? How is 1974 historical? That's younger than I am! I was still reeling from that and I see that her accessories are these:
My (way cool) uncle had this foot rug...and I was so COVETOUS!
And this!
A record player!
And check out the tape recorder with the microphone. Remember recording your favorite song off of the radio by holding the mic up to the speaker?
And don't forget about THIS!
I had one of these! Meme, you should have kept some of this stuff...apparently it is now historical and might have been worth some money! Oh well. I'm off to explain to my kids what a record player and a tape recorder are...
