We went to Mandeville, LA to visit an old (young!) friend of mine from college. There is now a Cafe' du Monde on the northshore! Same furniture, same decor and most important...same DELICIOUS beignets! Although the chairs and tables aren't as sticky here as at the original one in the French Quarter.

It's not a REAL beignet unless the powdered sugar is at least an inch thick on the top... 
And there is no way to eat it without also wearing it.

We had a wonderful time visiting with Amy and her family. In addition to the beignets we also had shrimp and catfish poboys for lunch. Boy, do we miss the food in Louisiana!
