Today Carolyn donated 10 inches of hair to Locks of Love. She hasn't had short hair since she was a baby. It's ALWAYS been long. Last spring, we talked about her donating her hair; she wanted to do it but we decided to wait until after she was a flower girl in Stephanie's wedding. After the wedding she changed her mind.
Since school started, however, she has talked and talked and talked about it. We decided to wait until after school pictures, which were yesterday. So today, SHE DID IT! I'm so glad we waited because she has been so excited about it this time and has told everyone she sees that she was getting it cut today. (To the horror of some!)
I didn't know if she would be sad after the deed was done, but she smiled and loves her new 'do.
Her brother, on the other hand...
As she was getting it cut, I noticed that Coleman was very quiet. I asked him if he was tired and he said no, that he was just sad that Carolyn was losing her beautiful hair. How sweet is that? (And so typical of a guy!)
The ladies at the salon were so sweet and made a big to-do. Carolyn got a certificate (and a free haircut-nice for mom!) and they told her how wonderful it was that she was donating her pretty hair.
We filled out the donation form and I asked her what she wanted to say. Then she signed her name to it and waved good-bye to her ponytails!
How cute is she?
Except that she looks about two years older now...
I can't believe she had ten inches cut and still has THIS MUCH HAIR! We should have cut twelve...

What a cutie! Good for her!
It is amazing how much older little girls look with shorter hair.
I was fooled by the black bar on her eyes---I thought glasses!!
Carolyn--That was a truly thoughtful and wonderful thing you did! You should be very proud of yourself!
And congratulations to mom for having such a thoughtful & courageous daughter.
So cool - you and Jim have such great kids! I hope mine are half as thoughtful...can you just come and parent mine for me? ;) JK - I wouldn't give that up for anything!
Aw this is SO great! I didn't realize her hair had gotten so LONG! What an absolutely wonderful cause though, I wish I had thought to do it when I cut off all of my hair in June.
Woo hoo Carolyn!! It looks great =)
I am so proud of Carolyn! It really is cute shorter. Did the curl come back when you washed it?
That is such a wonderful thing for a little girl to do. Way to go Caroline!
couple of thoughts...
1. that is AWESOME that she wanted to do it and got so excited. I'm so impressed with her (and her parents for raising such a sweetie pie ;)
2. the cut looks GREAT!
3. her hair was GORGEOUS and whoever gets it is really lucky! Her hair is still gorgeous, there was just a lot more of it previously ;)
That thick hair will make a great wig!! Way to go!
