And the Rain Came Down

Atlanta and surrounding counties have experienced historic amounts of rain over the past month; over 22 inches in the last week alone. Gwinnett County was severely hit; luckily for us, the flooding was all in the southern end of the county, not up north where we live. Schools wer closed in our district both Monday and Tuesday.
At least nine people lost their lives and the property damage is still being calculated. Unfortunately, most of the houses under water are in areas that have never flooded, so the owners didn't have flood insurance.

For me, this picture really puts the amount of water into perspective.
It's a roller coaster, not the log ride!

We had a beautiful, sunny day today, but rain is forecast again for tomorrow and Friday.

The Scream Machine is made of steel and wood... I'm not so sure that it's gonna be able to survive this...

That is just so horrible. Both pics really put it in perspective. Glad you all are safe!

So amazing. I saw the video of the roller coaster yesterday and I couldnt believe it. Whoa-it's right off the freeway. Totally crazy.

Ok, I'll revise my earlier comment...if it rained that much in CA, it'd all be over.

I couldn't believe all the pictures... Wow. Hope y'all didn't get any flood damage. (We didn't have flood insurance in ATL, either.)

wowsers

I'm not sure if these are the storms that were in TX about a week before... we had rain for a week solid (though only about 6 inches, not 22!), had sun for a day or two, then more rain forecasted. Luckily, it was only a few drops here and there.

HOPEFULLY that's what you guys get... we also got a nice cool-down, which was definitely welcome!

I mom, therefore I blog.
