Take Off Tuesday

  Amicalola Falls

Today we went to Amicalola Falls with our neighbors the Andersons, and the Barnes. It was great! Amicalola Falls is the gateway to the Appalachian Trail and I've wanted to go check it out ever since I read Bill Bryson's hysterically funny book A Walk In The Woods.
After a picnic lunch and a short play on the playground, we drove to the top of the falls and walked down 425 steps to the bridge midway across the falls. Beautiful! But of course, then we had to hike back up!

We all made it and celebrated with dessert at the lodge. Afterwards, we went for a VERY short "hike"

on the Appalachian Trail and a wade in the stream.

Then we walked to the bottom of the falls

where we saw three snakes

(this was the highpoint for some and the lowpoint for others!)
