2005

So this flashback is not a very long trip...but it is from December 28, 2005, exactly two years ago today.

We were living in Pennsylvania and my mom came up for Christmas.  We were unable to get a good flight home for her out of Philly, so she flew home out of Baltimore, which was only about an hour farther from our house.  On a whim, after dropping her off at the airport, we decided to go into Washington D.C.  We had never been before, and we were all so excited!  The weather was nice for December and we actually found a parking place right by the White House.  (Of course, it was two hour meter parking, so every couple of hours Jim had to run back to the van and feed the meter!)  We had no agenda, no tickets for anything...nothing but a map!  We walked all over the Mall that day and went to almost all of the monuments.  This picture is taken on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.  We had so much fun, we went back for a "real" vacation this past summer.
